Hello I’m Jordaine!

It’s so great to meet you!

Somethings Handmade is place to find Jamaican-American Recipes, Gardening & Crafts | Transform Everyday Moments into Extraordinary Experiences with Handmade Magic

My blog is an invitation to join me in embracing creativity in all its forms—cooking, growing, and crafting. Together, we’ll explore how everyday moments can be transformed into extraordinary experiences, one recipe, plant, and craft at a time. Somethings Handmade follows my journey as a food lover, self-taught baker, and creative soul who finds pure joy in transforming simple ingredients and raw materials into something extraordinary.

About Me

I am a wife, mother of two, and proud Jamaican-American born and raised in South Florida.

I’ve been cooking since I was 5 years old (my parents are brave) and I bring over 15 years of experience experimenting with a variety of different cuisines and flavors. In my kitchen, American and international flavors are combined, turning each meal into a celebration of culture and creativity. From hearty one-pot meals that remind me of my roots to delicate baked treats that bring smiles to my family’s faces, cooking is my first love and primary form of expression.

But my creativity doesn’t stop at the stove. My small urban garden is a living canvas, where I find creative ways to grow my own herbs, flowers and vegetables with limited space. Whether I’m growing herbs for fresh cooking, cultivating vibrant flower arrangement, or experimenting with sustainable gardening techniques, each seed planted is a promise of growth and potential physically and for me-spiritually.

Crafting completes my creative trinity. Handmade projects are my way of adding personal touch to our home, creating memories with my hands, and sharing skills that connect generations. From DIY home decor with a Caribbean flair to handcrafted gifts that tell a story, I believe in the power of making something beautiful from scratch.
